Emergency Department Waiting Area

Fresh Arts were contacted by Estates and the Clinical Matron of the emergency department for some advice about how to improve the outpatient waiting area in the Accident and Emergency department.

The area was badly cluttered and the layout needed improving.  The children’s area looked out-dated and was in desperate need of more storage.

A design company based in Cornwall called Boex were appointed to enhance areas within the Emergency Department waiting area through a holistic approach, specifically  the main waiting area and children’s waiting room.

During the ‘make-over’ Boex improved these spaces by creating new layouts for both rooms to make them more user friendly and adaptable.  This included providing new furniture including storage and seating, updating the reception area with a gently curving desk that enhances staff security as well as drawing patients into the space, bringing fresh and funky design into the children’s area as well as a clean lick of paint to brighten everywhere up!
