Relatives' Room

A Relatives’ Room opened on the main corridor at Southmead Hospital in Autumn 2011.

The room is for patients’ families for when they need some space to be alone or require greater privacy.

The room can also be used by patients if they need to speak to staff privately away from wards or the admissions office.

The idea for the room came from the Clinical Site Team wishing to ensure the privacy and dignity of patients and their families at times of need. The project was supported by the Trust’s Fresh Arts programme and also received funding from the Southmead League of Friends.

The room was redecorated with new furniture and artwork to provide a calm and comfortable space which can be used 24 hours a day.
