Emergency Department Patient Quality Indicators
Over the last few years all NHS Trusts have been required
to ensure that patients who attend the Emergency Department
are seen, treated and sent home, or are admitted into
hospital, within 4 hours of their arrival.
Since April 2011, Emergency Department patient quality
indicators have been introduced to ensure patients are
receiving the necessary service standards, such as how long
patients have to wait to be transferred from an ambulance into the
Emergency Department, how many patients went home without
being seen and the average waiting time for the last 5% of patient
seen through the Emergency Department.
These Emergency Department Patient Quality
Indicators are published on a monthly basis to demonstrate how
we are performing and delivering the service standards that the
public expect from their local hospital Emergency Department.
