We believe we will deliver these objectives for our patients by
providing:
Exceptional care
As the largest teaching Trust in the South West we have
internationally renowned medical teams delivering incredible
outcomes for our patients through the hard work and dedication of
our 9,000 doctors, nurses, healthcare professionals and support
staff.
For many years we have been at the forefront of new medical
techniques and innovations, including brain and spinal surgery,
joint replacement and the world's first radar breast imaging
system, to name but a few.
We provide award-winning services and receive a significant
number of referrals from other hospital Trusts for our wide range
of specialist services. We treat over 200,000 patients a year,
including over 6,000 births, and yet our philosophy is that each
patient is treated with respect and dignity and, most important of
all, as a person.
Personal care
We want to make sure that during your stay with us you feel
welcomed, relaxed and confident in the care you are receiving. All
our medical teams care about the quality of the service provided to
you, from the moment you walk through the door to helping you
through to the day of your discharge.
To protect your privacy and dignity we aim to provide all
inpatient beds in single sex areas and we have instigated protected
visiting hours to ensure patients get their full rest and
recuperation. Over 500 of our front line reception and support
staff have received training in customer care, plus our freshly
prepared and locally sourced food caters for all medical, dietary,
religious and cultural needs.
Safe care
Patient and visitor safety is at the forefront of delivering
exceptional healthcare, not only the focus on safe medical
procedures, cleanliness and infection control but also personal
safety whilst visiting us.
We are recognised within the region for excellent patient safety
and recently we were awarded a '5 star' rating by Dr Foster's, the
UK's leading independent provider of healthcare comparative
information. We were the only Acute Trust in the South West to
receive this top rating.
We have also ensured a rigorous cleaning regime with over 94% of
patients tell us they are really impressed with how clean our
facilities are.
Patient safety also extends into how we hold your personal data.
Our new Medical Records and Data Centre ensure your details are
kept within state-of-the-art security with all records such as
treatment notes, x-rays and prescriptions all kept in one
place.
To ensure your personal safety you will have your own bed-side
cabinet to keep your belongings in and outside our car parks are
regularly patrolled by security staff to provide some peace of mind
during your visit and stay.
Efficient care
By providing efficient healthcare we will further reduce waiting
times, you will be treated swiftly during your stay in hospital
and, where appropriate, we'll build a seamless link with your GP
and local community social service teams.
This year we have received an 'excellent' rating for achieving
all the Department of Health's national priorities, so all our
patients received treatment within 18 weeks of referral, all
patients with suspected cancer saw a consultant within 2 weeks and
nearly all patients arriving at our Emergency Department were
either discharged or admitted within 4 hours of arrival.
By providing all our patients and carers with exceptional, safe,
personal and efficient healthcare is why North Bristol NHS Trust
aspires to be known for 'Exceptional healthcare, personally
delivered.'
