Bristol Centre for Reproductive Medicine accepts NHS patients from Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucester, Somerset, Gloucester, Devon, Plymouth, Swindon, Wiltshire, Torbay, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.
Depending on your local Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), there will be differing eligibility criteria for NHS access to fertility treatment. Please refer to your NHS area website for further information. If you are ineligible for treatment under the NHS the good news is that you can still be seen at BCRM on a self-funding basis.
Depending on your CCG you may be able to have direct access to BCRM from your GP. The areas are Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucester, Devon, Plymouth, Torbay, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. For these referrals the eligibility paperwork to be completed/confirmed is below.
Patient access criteria checklists for NHS funded fertility investigation and treatment referrals for patients from Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG) are now available as one BNSSG referral form. This BNSSG Referral Form and Patient Access Criteria Check List is below along with the NHS Bristol, NHS North Somerset and NHS South Gloucestershire Access to Fertility Assessment and Treatments Policy, Version 4.3, dated November 2012.
BCRM are unable to accept NHS funded referrals for patients within BNSSG that do not meet the criteria outlined within this policy.
To ensure the quickest path into treatment your referral must include:
- Referral letter from your GP
- Blood test - see preliminary investigation form
- NHS funding confirmaiton by BNSSG Referral Form/Criteria Checklist (if appropriate)
Please note; if preliminary blood test or NHS funding confirmation are not included this will result in a rejection of your referral.
If you require any further information on the referral process then please contact BCRM on 0117 323 2100 where we are happy to help.
For referrals outside of this area your GP will often refer you to a local specialist and who can refer you to BCRM having confirmed your eligibility. Alternatively some GPs are able to have the funding confirmed directly and then refer you to BCRM. Contact your GP for further information.
