CRANE
The Craniofacial Anomalies Network (CRANE) maintains a national
register that seeks to record all cases of cleft lip and/or palate.
If you or your child has a cleft, you should have been asked if
this information can be registered with CRANE.
The information that CRANE collects is used to:
- Record the number of children born each year with cleft lip and
palate.
- Measure and report on the quality of care.
- Plan and develop better services.
- Increase our understanding of cleft lip and palate and help
research into its causes and treatment.
For more information, please visit the CRANE website or contact
Richard Willerton, Cleft Network Manager (South West).
CRANE uses the LASHAL code to classify the type and extent of a
cleft lip and/or palate. If you are interested, you can learn more
about the LAHSAL
code.
