The South West UK Children's Burn Centre (Paediatric)

The South West Regional Paediatric Burns Service based, at Frenchay Hospital, is the lead paediatric burn service within the South West UK Burn Care Network.

We provide pioneering burns care for more than 700 children a year.

Frenchay’s specialist teams of surgeons, nurses and therapists are experienced in the most complex paediatric burn care management as well as in treating minor burns in children from across the South West region.

In conjunction with the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children, we treat children who have suffered severe, complex burns from the South West and parts of the South Central Strategic Health Authorities as well as South Wales – in total an area which covers a population of around 10 million people.

A programme for the rehabilitation, outreach and long term treatment of patients enables care to be delivered closer to home for children and their families.

Based in the Barbara Russell Children’s unit at Frenchay hospital, we are one of four specialist paediatric burns centres in England and Wales offering expert, specialised care.

Our team of more than 40 members of staff are child and family-focused for every element of care through immediate assessment and surgery to scar therapy, schooling and paediatric psychology.
