North Bristol NHS Trust (NBT) is pleased to announce that Marie-Noelle Orzel, the Trust’s Director of Nursing, is to become Interim Chief Executive with effect from 2 July 2012.
The appointment comes as Ruth Brunt, the current Chief Executive, retires at the end of June after 40 years of service with the NHS, and the decision by the previous chief executive appointment, Ian Cumming, to remain at the Department of Health.
Peter Rilett, NBT’s chairman, said: “In order to give the Trust’s Board time to consider the recommendations of the recently announced Bristol Acute Hospital Services Review, we have decided to make an interim chief executive appointment.
“I am delighted that Marie-Noelle has accepted the role of Interim Chief Executive and she has the unanimous support of the Board. Importantly, Marie-Noelle will provide us with leadership continuity during this busy and exciting period of change for the Trust.”
Steve Webster, Director of Finance, will continue as Deputy Chief Executive, and will focus on the significant financial planning and delivery of our Foundation Trust application for December 2012.
Notes to Editors:
On 21 May 2012, North Bristol NHS Trust (NBT) and University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust (UH Bristol) jointly approved an Acute Hospital Services Review project team to develop a strategy and make recommendations for how hospitals across the city will deliver the Bristol Health Services Plan.
The project team will also recommend the organisational management structure required to deliver these hospital services. The recommendation may be to bring together both Trusts into a single organisation or it may be to remain as separate organisations, working in close partnership.
The strategy and recommendations will be presented to the Boards of both Trusts at their meetings at the end of July 2012.
