Holly Peryer

BSc (Hons) Senior Specialist Speech & Language Therapist

I am currently on secondment with the Bristol Speech & Language Therapy Unit, in addition to my specialist clinical role with the West Midlands Cleft Lip & Palate Service where I have worked since 2009.
I completed my MSc in Speech & Cleft at the University of Sheffield in 2016. Since then I have undertaken research activity in my specialist area of interests including early speech development of children born with cleft palate. My MSc dissertation highlighted differences in the bilabial sound development of infants with bilateral cleft lip and palate undergoing differing surgical lip repair protocols.

Current Research

During my secondment I am focussing on the early communication behaviours of infants born with cleft palate, using Cleft Collective data to establish if these behaviours vary by cleft subtypes. I am also involved in the analysis of early speech data for the Cleft Collective Speech & Language Study.
