Music Programme

Live music entertains our patients and staff, provides a wonderful talking point, and brings a relaxed atmosphere to our hospitals.

Every Wednesday afternoon, we bring live music onto the wards of the Brunel building at Southmead Hospital to perform at the patients' bedsides.  Twice a month, we provide performances at Cossham Hospital.  This is delivered through Live Music Now which provides new and emerging young artists at the start of their career.  You’ll often find our staff getting as much enjoyment from performances – watch out for staff participation!

The Play It Again trio perform a range of styles and popular tunes every Monday afternoon for our older and complex care patients on Elgar House. It has proved particularly beneficial to patients with a cognitive impairment.  Through donations from the Charity we were able to purchase percussion instruments so patients and the musicians can play and sing along together.

A team of around 50 volunteer pianists perform on the grand piano in the atrium.  Contact piano@nbt.nhs.uk if you’re interested in joining the team.
