App launched to enable patients to pay for parking by phone
Monday, 7 August 2017
We have launched a new App so you can pay for parking at Southmead Hospital on your phone.
The Glide App means you can pay for parking in most of the hospital’s car parks at the touch of a button without needing coins or using parking machines.
The initiative has been launched in response to feedback from patients and visitors in order to make it easier when attending the hospital.
The App is available on both the iPhone and Android and can be used for parking in the Brunel multi-storey, Emergency Department, Gloucester House and maternity car parks.
It cannot be used in the pay and display car parks as these do not operate using automatic number plate recognition (ANPR).
During August people using the new App will also benefit from discounted parking.
North Bristol NHS Trust Director of Facilities, Simon Wood, said: “We have been listening to feedback from our patients and visitors and know it is important to make it as easy as possible for people to pay for parking. We think this new Glide App will help us do that and hope you will too.
“We are always working to improve the experience of our patients and visitors and appreciate feedback on the App.”
To download the App search “Glide parking” in your app store and install. You will then be asked to enter your registration number and payment details. This information will be transmitted to the parking system so that the barrier will open when you leave the car park.
