North Bristol NHS Trust has won the South West employer of the year award and will now go through to the final of the National Apprenticeship Awards.

On May 18 the Trust won the Macro Employer of 2011 in the south west region.

This category is for employers with more than 5,000 staff.

The award recognises the scheme that North Bristol  NHS Trust runs to train and develop apprentices in healthcare, from nursing staff to IT technicians across Frenchay and Southmead Hospitals, and in the community.

The Trust will now go through to the national final of the awards to be announced on June 29.

Jane Hadfield, assistant director of staff development, said: “This is a great accolade, for the learners, their managers, their assessors, teachers, and the Learning & Development team.

“Thanks also to many others who have passed on their good luck wishes and continue to support our work in this area.”
