Atrium unveiled at New Hospital
Wednesday, 30 January 2013
The atrium of the new hospital at Southmead has been revealed for the first time.
The Bristol Post were invited to see the atrium of the new hospital in January 2013, after scaffolding used to construct the building was removed.
Patients and visitors to the new hospital, which opens in 2014, will arrive through the main entrance and into the atrium which forms the spine of the building.
The atrium is a open, bright and airy space which connects all the departments and areas of the new hospital.
It includes a reception, self check-in kiosks, cafe, shop and waiting areas.
