Breast reconstruction team holds UK’s first BRA Day
Monday, 2 October 2017
We will be holding what is believed to be the UK’s first ever Breast Reconstruction Awareness (BRA) Day event.
BRA Day is an initiative created by Canadian plastic surgeon Mitchell Brown MD in 2011 to promote education, awareness and access for people considering post-mastectomy breast reconstruction.
Our free event is open to anybody wishing to find out more about breast reconstruction surgery. The day will give people a logical overview of what type of surgery is available to them.
The free event will include information about breast screening, implants, nipple options, medical tattooing and lots more. There will also be a portrait exhibition on display by Julia Holland.
Plastic surgery breast reconstruction nurse Caroline Lewis said: “The aim of the day is to make patients aware of the options available for breast reconstruction, allowing them to make an informed choice about what suits their lifestyle.
“It can be a confusing time for patients and as a plastic surgery breast reconstruction team, we want patients to be informed of their options and support their decision making and choices.”
BRA Day will be held on Friday 3 November at the Holiday Inn in Filton. To book your free place or ask for further information, please email PlasticSurgeryBreastReconstructionTeam@nbt.nhs.uk
Our BRA Day event is sponsored by Southmead Hospital Charity, Keeping Abreast, Nicola Jane, Crawford Healthcare, Amoena, Finishing Touches Group, Eurosurgical, Mentor, Lipoelastic and Advantech Surgical.
