Bristol to London cycle ride for Parkinson's at NBT

Thursday, 17 April 2014

Patients and staff from Frenchay Hospital are setting off on a bike ride from Bristol to London on Good Friday to raise funds for Parkinson’s research at North Bristol NHS Trust.

Parkinson’s patient Darren Calder from Bristol is aiming to raise £10,000 on the ride which finishes at Tower Bridge on Easter Monday.

Later this year a Neurosciences Research Centre will be created at the former Elgar House building at Southmead Hospital Bristol. This will incorporate research teams working on leading trials for dementia, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s.

Each individual team is fundraising for their respective space in the new centre.

Darren said: “Now this is one "move" for Parkinson’s that deserves everyone's support so please dig deep, shuffle through your shrapnel and support our challenge where you can.”
