Tuesday, 1 August 2017
Last weekend 17 Bristol transplant patients from Southmead Hospital won 48 medals at the British Transplant Games.
The British Transplant Games is an annual competition that sees teams from hospitals across the UK come together to compete.
The Transplant Games promote the benefits of transplantation while also raising awareness of the need for more people to join the NHS Organ Donation Register and discuss their wishes with their families.
The Bristol team is made up of patients with kidney transplants from Southmead Hospital and bone marrow transplant patients from University Hospitals Bristol.
Alongside securing 48 medals, the Bristol team won best overall team out of over 50 transplant teams from units around the UK at this year’s competition in North Lanarkshire.
We are really proud of the team and look forward to next year’s Transplant Games!
