A dad is preparing for a gruelling cycle ride to raise funds for the neonatal intensive care unit at Southmead Hospital Bristol.

Robin Abrahams will cycle 335 miles over three days to raise funds for the unit where his son Marcus was cared for 11 years ago.

He is taking part in the Tour of Wessex through the South West from May 24-26 in support of the Southmead neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).

Robin, who lives in Southmead, will be taking part in the cycling challenge with his friend Rob O’Hagan and has been humbled by the support he has received for his challenge.

“I have not done anything like this before,” he said.

“I’ve been cycling for about four or five years and have done one day events before but thought I would give this a go as it’s quite a big one.

“It’s great to be able to help a cause that has helped you out.

“I will try and raise as much money to show my appreciation to them.”
