Dying Matters Awareness Week
Thursday, 11 May 2017
As a Trust we are committed to supporting Dying Matters so that we can provide our patients with the best care at the end of their lives.
Dying matters is organised by the National Council of Palliative Care, to raise the importance of talking about dying, death and bereavement.
Our Palliative Care Team help patients with advanced illness to achieve the best quality of life, focusing on providing tailored care for people who are dying. An important part of this is having conversations with family and healthcare staff.
As part of Dying Matters Week there were several stalls in the atrium at Southmead Hospital today to promote awareness among staff and patients.
The Palliative Care Team and Palliative Care Link Nurses, Chaplaincy, Tissue Donation team and Macmillan Wellbeing Centre were represented and helped people understand the importance of thinking about dying and ensuring people around them know their wishes.
