£20,000 donation buys 10 heart monitors

The Frenchay Cardiac Support Group and the Lord Mayor of Bristol have presented a cheque for £20,000 to the Cardiology Department at North Bristol NHS Trust.
The donation has bought ten cardiac monitors which will record a patient’s heartbeat when they are suffering from symptoms.
These monitors will support our one-stop palpitations clinic and community based clinics.
Patients could have the monitors fitted on the day of their clinic visit or fitted at a community site nearer to their home.
The results from these monitors can lead to reassurance, appropriate medication for fast or irregular heart rhythms, pacemaker implantation for slow heart rhythm; or further tests.
Caroline Bird, senior chief cardiac physiologist, said: “The Frenchay Cardiac Support Group has been a steadfast supporter of our hospitals for many years.
“On behalf of the Trust, I would like to thank Group Chairman Rae Care and his team for their ongoing generosity and support.”
