Get baking for the Mum’s the Word appeal and support Southmead maternity unit!

Thursday, 17 March 2011

A cake bake fundraising week is being launched in support of the brand new appeal for the Maternity Unit at Southmead Hospital.

The ‘Bun in the Oven’ event runs from Monday 28th of March to Friday 1st April 2011.

All of the funds raised will go to the Mums the Word appeal at North Bristol NHS Trust’s Southmead Hospital to help redevelop the maternity unit at Southmead hospital.

The plans include an expanded birthing suite, more consultation rooms for baby scans and a greater number of en-suite facilities for new mums.

The funds will also help refurbish the delivery suite and create a new family room for mothers, babies and their visitors.

Head of Fundraising for the hospital, Trevor Reid, said: “The idea is a very simple one and everyone can get involved! We’re asking people to bake a cake to share with friends, family or work colleagues and ask them to make a donation for each slice!

“Our Bun in the Oven cake bake week is a great reason to get together with friends and help a good cause in Bristol at the same time. Please get baking and show your support for Southmead maternity unit.”

A donation per slice could be as little as £1 each. Supporters can simply collect up the donations from their Bun in the Oven event and send them to the Mum’s the Word appeal, fundraising office, Christopher Hancock building, North Bristol NHS Trust, Southmead Hospital, Bristol, BS10 5NB.
