Macmillan trustees bring board meeting to Southmead Hospital

Tuesday, 23 October 2018

North Bristol NHS Trust (NBT) welcomed the trustees of Macmillan Cancer Support to Southmead Hospital today (Tuesday, October 23).
The national charity’s trustees held their board meeting in the NGS Macmillan Wellbeing Centre, and heard about the work the trust does to support people affected by cancer.
The centre opened in September 2014 and was established as part of a partnership between Macmillan Cancer Support and the Trust to provide a drop-in service, advice sessions and complementary therapies.
The Macmillan trustees chose to visit NBT due to the partnership working between the two organisations to support local people living with cancer. The board of trustees and senior management wanted to see and hear for themselves what has been achieved by working together.
They heard from NBT staff and a patient who has been treated at Southmead Hospital about the support they have received during their treatment.
