More buildings brought down at Southmead Hospital Bristol
Wednesday, 15 October 2014
There have been more changes on the Southmead Hospital site as demolition continues to take place.
Temporary and permanent buildings are being dismantled on the hospital site to make way for the next phase of construction on the Brunel building.
The new hospital building opened in May, but further construction works need to be done to complete the project.
The second phase of the Brunel building will include a multi-storey car park for patients and visitors next to the entrance to the hospital.
Decommissioning works and demolition could not start in old hospital buildings until patients had moved into the new site.
The temporary Kendon restaurant, which was put up prior to the start of construction work on the Brunel, has now been taken down and the General Stores by Beaufort House have been demolished this week.
Demolition work will continue with old buildings on the site being levelled to make way for further building works.
