NBT says goodbye to undignified hospital gowns
Wednesday, 23 December 2009
Traditional hospital gowns – the ones that ‘do up’ at the back and can expose your bottom – will soon become a thing of the past at North Bristol NHS Trust’s hospitals.
Brand-new wraparound gowns that tie-up at the sides are about to be introduced at Frenchay and Southmead hospitals improving patients’ dignity and privacy. NBT is one of the first NHS trusts in the South West to get the new-style gowns.
Nursing staff at both sites have been given the opportunity to try on the gowns for themselves and feedback has been extremely positive.
Carol de Halle, Acting Director of Nursing, said: “Traditional hospital gowns have been the butt of many a joke over the years but anyone who has been in hospital and worn one of them knows just how embarrassing and undignified they can be.
“These new gowns are much better, and we are very much looking forward to rolling them out across our organisation.
“North Bristol NHS Trust is committed to improving our patients’ privacy and dignity and the new gowns will make a big difference.”
