New maternity website launched providing women with interactive advice from pregnancy to postnatal

Tuesday, 3 September 2013

North Bristol NHS Trust has created a maternity online hub to provide women with information and support on their antenatal, birth and postnatal care.

The website has around 15 information videos in bite-sized chunks including three video tours of Cossham Birth Centre, Southmead  Birth Suite and Southmead Central Delivery made by the Trust.

There is also a video made by NBT on what to do if you go into early labour at home.

There are sections on how to prepare for labour, what to expect in labour and available pain relief options.

The after the arrival of your baby section includes information on breastfeeding, postnatal care and exercise after birth.

Lisa Marshall, deputy director of midwifery, said: “Our new maternity services website really is a one stop shop for online guides and information on pregnancy, antenatal and postnatal care at North Bristol NHS Trust.

“We hope that prospective parents will find the videos and information interesting and useful to prepare them for birth and help them learn more about all the options available to them.”
