North Bristol NHS Trust Chief Executive announces retirement
Monday, 15 August 2011
North Bristol NHS Trust (NBT) is today announcing that its Chief Executive, Ruth Brunt, will be retiring in April 2012.
Mrs Brunt said: “With almost 40 years in the NHS it was always my intention to retire next year.
“With the recent launch of our foundation trust application and the incredible progress being made on the new hospital at Southmead, I thought this would be the perfect time to hand over to someone new.
“North Bristol NHS Trust really is a great place to work and I have been extremely privileged to work alongside such dedicated staff over the last seven years for an organisation that really has gone from strength-to-strength.”
Ruth joined North Bristol NHS Trust in 2004 as Director of Nursing. She then became Director of Operations before taking on the role of Chief Executive.
Prior to NBT, she had a wide ranging career in district nursing, midwifery, nursing education as well as general management roles.
Peter Rilett, Chairman of North Bristol NHS Trust, said: “I would like to thank Ruth for her excellent work in leading this organisation over the past 18 months.
"Her energy, drive and enthusiasm have provided real impetus to our organisation and our ability to meet the challenges ahead.
“The Trust will now be looking for an exceptional individual to take the organisation forward into the new hospital and develop further the high quality hospital and community services our patients have come to expect from us.”
An advertisement for a new Chief Executive will be published next month.
