Olympic torch relay – traffic disruption likely at Southmead

Wednesday, 16 May 2012

The Olympic torch relay will pass Southmead Hospital on the morning of Wednesday May 23.

This is likely to cause severe traffic hold-ups on neighbouring roads around the Southmead Hospital site.

The one-kilometre procession will travel from Henleaze Road and along Southmead Road to the Aerospace roundabout on the A38/Gloucester Road.

It is scheduled to pass Southmead Hospital at about 9am but traffic is likely to be disrupted from at least 8am.

The Southmead Road entrance will be closed while the procession passes the hospital. You are advised to enter the Southmead site using the entrance on Monks Park Avenue, which is also likely to be congested.

Please take into account the extra time your journey to the hospital may take as severe congestion is likely around this time.

In addition, please note that the Minor Injuries Unit at Southmead Hospital will open one hour earlier at 8am.
