Open doors at Southmead’s newest buildings
Tuesday, 20 July 2010
North Bristol NHS Trust is inviting local people to come and see its brand new Pathology Sciences and Learning & Research buildings at Southmead Hospital at an open day on Thursday, July 22 2010 from 4pm-7pm.
The buildings, which can be clearly seen from Monks Park Avenue, are the first major new buildings at the site and will eventually form part of the new hospital when it opens in 2014.
There will be a chance to hear about what goes on in the Pathology Sciences building and have a guided tour of the Learning & Research building including the opportunity to take part in some hands-on training exercises.
There will also be an interactive tour of the University of Bristol laboratories where there will be a chance to find out more about the exciting research and innovation work that goes on between the Trust and the University.
People will also be able to find out more about the new Southmead Hospital development and pose questions to the designers. In addition, they can learn about our infection control work and find out about what the Trust is doing to promote environmental sustainability.
Ruth Brunt, Chief Executive, said: “The open day will give local people a good opportunity to get an early glimpse of what the new hospital will look like in 2014 and see for themselves the high quality services and environment offered. We look forward to welcoming you.”
Anyone wanting to attend on Thursday is asked to follow the signs for the Pathology Sciences and Learning & Research buildings throughout the hospital site. Alternatively, access is available from Monks Park Avenue.
