Paralympian joins staff and children to celebrate centre’s first year

Monday, 3 December 2012

Paralympic gold-medal-winning swimmer Liz Johnson joined staff and children at the Community Children's Health Partnership’s (CCHP) ‘hub’ in Easton earlier today to celebrate its first successful year.

The Eastgate Hub is one of a network of centres across Bristol and South Gloucestershire that bring together children’s services and clinicians such as community paediatricians, therapists, health visitors, school nurses and mental health teams.

The centres mean that local children can access services closer to where they live.

Christine Falco, Area Health Manager for CCHP at Eastgate, said: “Having hubs based at various sites across the area means that we can put children at the centre of their healthcare programmes with all the services they need under one roof.

“Lots of local children have accessed the services at Eastgate since we opened 12 months ago and feedback from them, their parents and carers has been really positive.”

Guests at the celebration also viewed a short film made by Barnardo’s about the CCHP service and looked at artwork made by local young people that is on display in the building.
