Plastic surgeon travels to Pakistan to share expertise

Frenchay Hospital's plastic surgeon Umraz Khan has travelled to Pakistan to help doctors treat patients with severe injuries.

Mr Khan, who works at the South West's specialist plastic surgery unit at Frenchay Hospital, visited Lahore to teach surgoens there micro-surgery techniques to avoid potential limb-loss in patients.

He went to Pakistan in 2005 after an Earthquake devesated the country to help treat victims and returned earlier this year to show surgeons how to save limbs using skin grafts and transplants.

Mr Khan filmed some of his work in Pakistan and his trip was reported by BBC Points West on BBC 1 on November 25 2010.
