Southmead Hospital Charity working with national campaign to support World Mental Health Day today
Friday, 10 October 2014
To mark World Mental Health Day today (Friday, October 10) Southmead Hospital Charity will be raising awareness in the Brunel building.
The hospital charity is working with Time to Change, the national campaign raising awareness and challenging stigma and discrimination in mental health. The campaign encourages people to talk about mental health in the way they'd speak of their physical health.
Both charities are joining together in the atrium of the Brunel building at Southmead Hospital Bristol to provide information about mental health.
It will also be a chance for people to find out more about North Bristol NHS Trust’s Riverside Unit, which supports adolescents and young people experiencing mental health issues. The hospital charity will also be raising funds for the unit.
Head of fundraising at Southmead Hospital Charity, Jane Ibbunson, said: “At Southmead Hospital Charity we felt it was important to get involved with World Mental Health Day.
“Working with Time to Change we want to help break the stigma around mental health and encourage people to visit us in the atrium of the Brunel building to find out more.
“We will also be supporting the Riverside Unit which is run by North Bristol NHS Trust and does great work in supporting young people with mental health issues.”
The charities will be in the Brunel until 4pm.
