Fundraisers for Shine together smashed their target of raising £10,000 in one day for Southmead and Frenchay Hospitals.

The 10.10.10 appeal on October 10 was a huge success with hundreds of people taking part in fundraising events, sponsored challenges and through donations with the support of Star Radio throughout the day.

The figure raised by the end of the ten hours was £10,720, with more still to come from sponsors.

Events included an abseil down the Learning and Research building at Southmead Hospital, an outdoor sponsored swim, a Quadrathon challenge and an Autumn Fair at Frenchay Hospital.

John Lewis, Cribbs Causeway, also donated an iPad as a raffle prize.

The day ended with a quiz night and auction at the David Lloyd leisure centre in Westbury hosted by television presenter Justin Lee Collins and Star Radio’s Chris Criddle.

Head of fundraising at North Bristol NHS Trust, Trevor Reid, said: “Many congratulations to everyone who played their part in the 10.10.10 appeal.

“A huge thank you to each and every one of you, you have really helped make a big difference to boost the hard work of staff at Frenchay and Southmead Hospitals.”
