Three nominations for NBT at the Sustainable Health and Care Awards

North Bristol NHS Trust is in the running for three awards at this year’s Sustainable Health and Care awards ceremony.
The Sustainable and Health and Care awards celebrate sustainable development work across the NHS, social care and the public sector, while providing the opportunity for organisations to showcase their projects.
The Trust has been shortlisted in the Green Space and Travel and Logistics categories, while Tricia Down, Head of Sustainable Health and Capital Planning, has also been nominated for the Sustainable Healthcare Leader of the Year award.
We provide a number of ways in which staff, patients and their family and friends can get to our sites with secure facilities for cyclists, life-share spaces and bus stops that allow 17 services to stop every hour at our Brunel Building. As well as that we have loan bikes, dedicated car-share bays and electric vehicle charging points.
We know that green space reduces stress and can aid recovery. With this in mind we have planted 700 trees in recent years and have a number of spaces where staff, patients and their friends and family can unwind. There is even a herb garden that is used in the onsite cooking.
On the Trust being shortlisted, Tricia said: “It is a fantastic achievement to be nominated for these awards.
"Patient and staff wellbeing is at the heart of what we do and our green spaces are enjoyed by everyone.
“We have also worked closely with our travel partners to ensure our sites are as easily accessible as possible from around the city and surrounding areas.”
On being nominated as Sustainable Healthcare Leader of the Year, Tricia added: Tricia said: “I feel incredibly honoured to reach the shortlist but the success we have had in delivering an amazingly vibrant programme of sustainable projects is down to the relentless passion and dedication of the team here at Southmead and to the many champions we have throughout the Trust.”
The awards will take place on 21 November 2018 at Edgbaston Cricket Ground, Birmingham.
