UPDATE: Free Wi-Fi for new and expecting mums in Southmead Hospital

Tuesday, 12 December 2017

Our works to provide free Wi-Fi throughout our maternity and gynaecology unit at Southmead Hospital are now complete.

The patient Wi-Fi launched in the Mendip, Percy Philips and Quantock wards earlier this year. Now it has been rolled out in the Central Delivery Suite, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Cotswold and the Antenatal unit at Southmead Hospital.

The patient Wi-Fi enables new and expecting mothers to keep updated with the latest news, their favourite shows and social media on their laptops, smartphones or tablets while they are staying at the hospital.

Interim Director of Midwifery, Gina Augarde, said: “We know from patient feedback that access to Wi-Fi is important to women when they spend time with us in maternity and gynaecology.

“We are pleased that this has now completed and hope this will improve their experience. Ask on the ward for more information about logging on.”

Staff on the wards can provide information about access to the Wi-Fi and the Trust is encouraging people to provide feedback.
