We're celebrating our apprentices
Wednesday, 8 March 2017
In celebration of National Apprenticeship Week, we’ve caught up with some of our apprentices to hear about their experiences of being on the scheme.
We featured their graduation ceremony on earlier this week and also met Sophie, who has recently completed her apprenticeship. Read her story below.
After having her children Sophie Nott was looking for an opportunity to develop her skills and re-gain her confidence. She saw the apprenticeship scheme as the ideal way to do this, so got in touch with the team and didn’t look back.
She started with 16 weeks unpaid experience in different areas across the Trust. Sophie said: “The traineeship provided me with lots of experience in administration roles and I discovered how much I enjoyed it. After 16 weeks experience, I decided I wanted to complete the apprenticeship.”
The apprenticeship lasted one year where Sophie was based in our pharmacy. During this time, she was also studying towards her NVQ qualification. One year later, Sophie successfully completed the apprenticeship and is now working full time in the Pharmacy department.
She said: “I really enjoyed my time on the apprenticeship scheme and came away with a range of skills I’m now able to use to help further my career. I was given lots of support from the apprenticeship team and they were always on hand to help me out if I needed it. If someone is looking to learn on the job I would definitely recommend the apprenticeship scheme.”
