Dr Julian Thompson was appointed as a Consultant in Intensive Care and Anaesthesia at North Bristol NHS Trust in 2014.
Dr Thompson is the Research Lead for the Severn Major Trauma Network, Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Bristol, Critical Care Doctor for the Great Western Air Ambulance and Associate Professor at the University of Stavanger, Norway.
He trained in Oxford and London, completed a doctorate in hypoxia and genetics at University College London and was Executive Director of London’s Air Ambulance (HEMS) from 2011-15. He is Deputy Editor of the Scandinavian Journal of Trauma, Resuscitation and Emergency Medicine and his research interests include pre hospital critical care, major trauma and wilderness medicine.
