Rheumatology Patient Support & Information
Rheumatology Support Group
We are a community of people who have rheumatoid or psoriatic arthritis under the care of the rheumatology team at North Bristol NHS Trust (NBT). Our aim is to support each other, discuss ways to cope as well as provide reassurance and motivation in a relaxed environment.
We are a mixed age group ranging from 20s to 80s - everyone is welcome to join.
We meet every 3rd Wednesday of the month between 2pm and 4pm at the Stapleton & Begbrook Club, Frenchay Park Road, Stapleton, Bristol. We also organise days out and other activities throughout the year. Please ask the Rheumatology Team for more information.
Rheumatology Support Group – Hydrotherapy Session
Originally organised by the people who attend the Support Group, Hydrotherapy Group Sessions have become a part of our Rheumatology Service. This group is led by our physiotherapists. We meet each Wednesday for a 30 minute session at 2.30pm, 3pm and 3.30pm in Gate 24, Southmead Hospital, Bristol.
To help support our Rheumatology Physiotherapy Department a suggested £4 voluntary donation is appreciated. We operate on a first come, first served basis and suggest new people arrive around 2.50pm and come through the Therapies area to the pool waiting room. If there are spaces you can join the first session but you won’t have such an extended wait for the second session! For further information contact Jenny Carter on 01454 882280 or Mary Ives on 01454 881522.
Rheumatology Patient Representative Group
The patient representative group consists of health professionals and patients and meets every 2 months at Southmead Hospital Bristol. We work in partnership with our patients to improve and design our services around patients’ needs and expectations. If you would like to be part of this group kindly contact Dr Minaur’s secretary Liz Emery on 0117 4142840.
