Yate Minor Injuries Unit (MIU)

 

Open 7 days a week including Sunday and bank holidays.
Monday - Friday 8.30am - 7.30pm.
Saturday & Sunday 10am - 1.30pm.
X-Ray Monday - Friday 8.30am - 4.30pm.

The Yate Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) offers treatment for adults, children and young people for a wide range of minor injuries. You can drop in without an appointment, or you may be referred by your GP or other healthcare professional. We will treat most patients within two hours.

All patients are seen by an Emergency Nurse Practitioner (ENP) or an Emergency Care Practitioner (ECP) who have wide experience of dealing with minor injuries.

The Yate Minor Injuries Unit has X-ray facilities on site available Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm so that assessing the severity of any injury can be done as quickly as possible.

The Yate Minor Injuries Unit treats: 

  • Cuts & grazes
  • Sprains & strains
  • Arm, lower leg and foot injuries including broken bones
  • Bites - human/animal/insect 
  • Minor burns & scalds
  • Minor head injuries
  • Broken noses/nosebleeds
  • Minor eye problems such as scratches, foreign bodies in the eyes
  • Minor ear problems

The MIU does not treat:

  • Chest pain
  • Respiratory problems
  • Abdominal pain
  • Gynaecological problems
  • Drug overdose
  • Alcohol related problems
  • Mental health problems,
  • Minor illnesses such as a sore throat or temperature (please contact your GP)
  • Wound redressing (please contact your GP)
  • Health conditions that would normally be treated by your GP or hospital

The Minor Injury Unit is based in the Yate West Gate Centre, in the heart of the Yate Shopping Centre, next to the public library. It is well served by public transport and there is free car parking around the shopping centre.
