We have high standards for the handling of patient and personal information. We maintain the necessary safeguards for, and appropriate use of, patient and personal information.
Your Rights as an Individual
The Data Protection Act 2018 and the EU GDPR 2016 gives individuals (Data Subjects) the right to request and in most cases to be given, a copy of the information which North Bristol NHS Trust holds about them. This is called a Subject Access Request (SAR).
Freedom of Information
The Freedom of Information (FOI) Act 2000 gives a general right of access to all types of non-personal (corporate and business) information held by the Trust (a Public Authority).
In accordance with good practice, information derived from your care will be used to audit practice in our hospitals.
A Caldicott Guardian is a senior person responsible for protecting the confidentiality of a patient and service-user information and enabling appropriate information-sharing.
