Department for Health and Social Care rankings place Bristol NHS Group hospitals amongst the best in the South West.
University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW) and North Bristol NHS Trust (NBT) have been ranked in the highest two categories in the new NHS National Oversight Framework (NOF) which aims to provide a more transparent way for the public to review local healthcare services.
The new framework rates performance against a number of areas including waiting times, finances and experience of care.
UHBW and NBT were ranked in categories one and two respectively, with both trusts featuring in the top five providers in the South West. Both Bristol NHS Group partners scored highly when it came to Access to Services, in particular the number of patients waiting less than 18 weeks. Both trusts also scored well in Patient Safety, Finance, and People and Workforce categories.
Maria Kane, Chief Executive, Bristol NHS Group, said: “The high performance of both Bristol NHS Group’s trusts in the new National Oversight Framework is testimony to the hard work and dedication of our teams to provide safe, effective and timely care to our patients and the population we serve.
“I do recognise that within this positive report there are still areas for improvement and we remain committed to doing even more to improve our services for local people.
“As we continue to explore becoming a single organisation for the benefit of our Four Ps – our patients, our people, our population and the public purse - today’s ratings show the strong foundations on which we can, and will, build together.”
