NBT Non-Executive Director Professor Sarah Purdy has been awarded an OBE in the Platinum Jubilee Honours.

As well as her role on the board, Professor Purdy is a GP based at Sea Mills Surgery and is Pro Vice-Chancellor for Student Experience at the University of Bristol and Professor of Primary Care. She is also an Honorary Consultant in Primary Health Care for NHS England.

The OBE has been awarded in recognition of Professor Purdy’s clinical, research, teaching and leadership contributions in general practice and medicine more widely.

Professor Purdy said: “I feel surprised, honoured and humbled to have received this award. Working as a GP and contributing to teaching and research in primary care has been a core part of my life for over 30 years and it is incredibly special to be recognised for this.

“It has been a real privilege to be part of a fantastic and dedicated multi-disciplinary team at Sea Mills Surgery and North Bristol NHS Trust and to work with outstanding academic and professional services colleagues in the Centre for Academic Primary Care at the University of Bristol.”

NBT Chief Executive, Maria Kane, said: “It is wonderful that Sarah has been recognised for her contribution to healthcare over the past 30 years.

“We value the experience she brings to the board and are delighted to see her commitment being honoured.”
