New non-executive director joins our board

North Bristol NHS Trust is pleased to welcome Professor Sarah Purdy as a non-executive director to our Trust board.

Professor Sarah Purdy has a distinguished track record as a clinician and lecturer including, in primary care, psychiatry and research. Her roles have included: Visiting Fellow in the Department of Ambulatory Care and Prevention at Harvard Medical School and Clinical Lecturer in Primary Care at Newcastle University. From 2015 to 2019, she was Head of Medical School and Associate Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Bristol, and the Deputy Director of NIHR CLAHRC West from its founding to 2015 and its Director from 2018 to 2019.

Currently, Professor Sarah Purdy is the Pro Vice Chancellor for Student Experience at the University of Bristol and is responsible for the continuing development and leadership of student engagement, inclusion and wellbeing within the University. At the University, she is also a Professor of Primary Care. 

In her clinical role, Professor Purdy is a practising GP at Sea Mills Surgery, Bristol and is an Honorary Consultant in Primary Health Care, NHS England.

Sarah joins our board of six non-executive directors and two associated non-executive directors and will serve a term of three years, starting on 1 December 2021.
