A planned simulation of a mains electrical failure will happen in the Brunel building at Southmead Hospital on Thursday 23 April.
This is a critical piece of work which allows North Bristol NHS Trust to test the building’s generator in the event of an external power failure.
At approximately 6am, the mains power supply to the Brunel will be disconnected for approximately 30 seconds to one minute. During this time, there will be emergency lighting in place. The building will then run on generators until 8am, when it will return to mains power.
We are not expecting any disruption to essential services during this time and have robust back-up plans in place to minimise any power outages.
Thank you for your understanding and support during this time.
