99 year old Jack Vokes was today reunited with the nurse who delivered the first vaccination in Bristol.

One year ago today, 98 year old Jack Vokes became the first person in Bristol to get his Covid-19 vaccination.

Jack received his vaccination at Southmead Hospital, one of the first hospital hubs to provide the vaccination.

Since then our local vaccination programme has delivered 1,700,299 vaccinations across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.

Jack, now 99 years old marked the anniversary with a visit from Jude Clipsom, the Southmead Hospital Nurse who gave him his first vaccination. He said: “I can’t believe it’s been a year, I feel very lucky. I’d like to thank everyone involved very very much for what they’re doing. God bless you all and have a very happy Christmas.”

Jude, who has worked on the vaccination roll out for the past year said “The day we did the first Covid-19 vaccination in Bristol was incredible, so much work had gone into making it happen. Meeting Jack and doing his vaccination was such an honour. It feels like we shared a special moment of history together, so it’s been so nice to see him again.”
