Baby Loss Awareness Week 2025

Thursday October 9 marks the start of Baby Loss Awareness week, an opportunity to show our support to anyone affected by pregnancy and baby loss, break the silence and let them know that they are not alone.

Baby loss affects a wide variety of people in the child’s life, and it can be difficult to know how to talk about it or where to turn to for support. One of the aims of Baby Loss Awareness week is to raise awareness about the impact such a devastating loss can have and help parents and families find ways to process their grief.

Throughout the week, staff from our Women’s and Children’s division will be in the atrium with information on baby loss and the support available to those who have been affected. We will also be lighting up parts of the Women’s and Children’s quarter Pink and Blue along with other buildings and hospitals across the country to raise awareness of the wide-reaching impact of losing a baby.

On Wednesday 15 October, to mark the end of the week, we will be joining the global Wave of Light by lighting candles in remembrance of all babies who were gone too soon at 7pm in the Sanctuary. All those who have been affected by baby loss are welcome to join, including staff, patients, and members of the public. For those that wish to be involved but cannot or do not want to attend in person, we’d be happy to dedicate a candle to your baby and share their name or a message on your behalf if you wish to do so.

You can contact the team by emailing BabyLossAwarenessWeek@nbt.nhs.uk by 5pm on 15 October.
