What do you love most about your job?
What I love most about my job is the people and serving coffee – whether it’s doctors, nurses, or cleaners. In catering, I really believe that when you do good service, it will always come back to you. I’ve seen that in smiles, thanks, and little conversations that remind me why my work matters. Above all, I’ve come to see this job is more than just food service – it’s about care, connection and community.
What is a typical day like for you at NBT?
My typical day at NBT is busy, active, and really rewarding. It usually starts with prepping the food and making sure everything is in place, from checking dietary requirements to ensuring meals are ready to go on time. I love multitasking – some days you will see me at the VU Restaurant and other times at the coffee shop serving 400 cups of coffee per day, cakes, pastries, pasties, and our famous wrap!
I always aim to give excellent service with a smile because serving is my passion. Being enthusiastic and infectious is something I bring to every shift. Come and taste the aroma of Lavazza’s freshly brewed coffee! There is no other place like this.
Are there any teams or staff you would like to shout out to or thank?
Absolutely — I’d love to give a big shout out to everyone on the VU Restaurant team including the managers, supervisors, chefs and to all of my lovely colleagues because they make every busy day feel like a team effort.
We work hard, support each other, and always try to bring positivity to every shift. We all play different roles, but we’re one team and I’ve always felt proud to be a part of that.
