The Echo team of Cardiac Physiologists at North Bristol NHS Trust have been awarded British Society of Echocardiography (BSE) departmental accreditation in three different areas.
Not content with being individually accredited to BSE standards, the team recently applied for departmental accreditation applied for their Transthoracic Echo service, their Trans-oesophageal Echo Service, and for Training in Echocardiography to BSE standard; ensuring that the skills and expertise required for this niche specialty is continually being developed and extended to physiologist trainees, medical trainees and ICU colleagues.
Accreditation was awarded in all three different areas - a mark of excellence not held by any other local Trust.
The Echo Team provide approximately 11,000 Echocardiograms per year to our patients, both in their out-patient clinics and during admission to the hospital. In addition, the physiologists provide specialist, advanced studies, with the support of three consultant Cardiologists, Dr Farrow, Dr Gogola and Dr Wong.
