National Apprentice Week 2023!

National Apprenticeship Week 2023: Skills For Life

This week at NBT we have been celebrating our apprentices as part of National Apprenticeship Week 2023!

Today is celebration Friday so we would like to say a huge congratulations to our 94 apprentices that have completed their qualifications in the last 12 months.

Apprenticeships make a big difference; you earn while you learn, receive a recognised qualification, benefit from ongoing support, gain real work experience, improve your employability, and develop your skills.

Igor’s Apprenticeship Journey:

Undertaking an apprenticeship has progressed Igor’s career and taught him valuable ‘Skills for Life’, there really is no limit to what you can achieve through enrolling on our apprenticeship programme!

Igor said: “I started my NBT journey as a band 2 receptionist in Theatres and Medirooms. Whilst I was there, I completed my level 2 Customer Service Apprenticeship with support from my assessor, Olly. I wanted to enrol on the apprenticeship to get formal qualifications, whilst earning, and meeting new people from across the Trust. We learned about things such as how to deal with difficult situations, how to be the best at what we do, and how to work and communicate is such a large organisation.

“One of my favourite aspects of the apprenticeship was that the sessions were so focussed on working here at NBT so I could apply what I was learning to my role. I also really liked my reviews and check-ins with Olly as it was an opportunity to discuss any concerns or issues, I had he was also there to give me support and guidance The study days were also a great opportunity to meet new people, have fun, and learn what else is going on at NBT.

“After completing this apprenticeship, I moved to a new band 2 role in Staff Development. Shortly after, I was successful in gaining a promotion to a band 4 role. The apprenticeship gave me the skills and confidence I needed to go for the promotion and develop my career at NBT. Now, I am progressing on to the Level 3 Team Leader apprenticeship so I can develop further. Who knows what’s next!?”

All our apprenticeship roles will be advertised on our current vacancies and on the Government Find an Apprenticeship website.
