Patients with cancer at Southmead Hospital can now benefit from additional support from our new cancer navigator.
Sue Mitchell has taken on the role of Macmillan Cancer Navigator, providing information and support to inpatients with cancer and their family or carers.
No matter where patients are in their cancer pathway, whether it’s their initial diagnosis, undergoing treatment and beyond, patients can benefit from her support.
Sue can help with one-to-one emotional support, directing to services that might help them financially or practically or providing information.
The service has been set up with funding from Macmillan Cancer Support and is initially running as a two-year pilot.
Sue said: "This is a really exciting new role, which we hope will make a difference to the patients I support."
