Sarah’s apprenticeship learning journey

Sarah McCann

Read Sarah’s apprenticeship learning journey which has led her to gain a place at university!

“My learning journey started back in September 2016; I joined the Trust on a Level 2 apprenticeship. This seems so long ago but each step throughout my learning journey I have grown.

“The opportunities given to me have allowed me to progress in my career and profession that has truly been life-changing for me. When I arrived at the Trust, I was truly scared, scared to learn, scared of failing. With the care and support of my assessors, teachers, and colleagues step by step, year after year my confidence grew. Not only my confidence as a person but also confidence in my working ability that ultimately has given me the driving force to keep going.

“I completed my NVQs and functional skills English and Maths, this gave me the qualifications needed to progress to studying the Access to Higher Education in Nursing and Midwifery. I am halfway through my course and have been offered a place at university to study BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing in September. I can’t quite believe it myself, but with hard work and dedication anything is possible, and it is never too late to learn. Thank you NBT, forever grateful #NBTProud”
