In May, work will begin on an extension to Cossham Hospital to move our Cossham Imaging services all under one roof.
The year long expansion will create two new imaging rooms to house the MRI and CT scanner which are currently in a temporary building outside Cossham hospital, ensuring that these services continue to be delivered locally for our patients. The temporary structures were put in place in 2021 to increase Imaging capacity following delays caused by the pandemic. The extension will also provide enhanced patient preparation and changing areas and improved facilities such as break rooms and offices for our Imaging staff.
The construction project will have a number of phases, with mitigations put in place to minimise disruption to patients, staff and the local community. Noise levels will be monitored regularly, but there will be some occasions when the works may be audible to patients and staff.
The timetable for completion of the work is as follows:
- Foundations and ground works: May until September 2022
- Construction starts, steelwork frame installation: Mid September 2022 until Mid October
- Internal fitting and decoration: Mid October 2022 until late February 2023
- Opening and ready for use by patients and staff: April 2023
As the work continues, we will continue to provide updates as this fantastic project gets underway.
No services at Cossham will be affected during this time.
